Well worth the effort, the Flat Tops are considered a must-see in the area. This will be for adventure seekers who are looking for a full-day activity and happy to sight-see along the scenic drive. It is 47 miles from our meeting spot and is about a 1.5-hour drive out to the trailhead by winding through canyons and out onto Forest Service roads with mountain-surrounded lakes. The hike is moderately strenuous at 6 miles round trip with about 550 ft elevation gain. The starting elevation for the hike is above 10,000 ft. Although wildflowers are not guaranteed- this is the typical peak season for wildflowers in the area coating the stunning cliffs and lining the trails!

General information to help with planning:
TRANSPORTATION:
We do not plan to utilize our shuttle this summer, participants should expect to need transportation.
No matter what we will meet at our office (925 Weiss Drive) and caravan out to the location this helps alleviate wayfinding to trailheads.
Although we usually encourage carpooling for the environment with the ongoing pandemic carpooling comes with risks and must to agreed to by all persons in a vehicle- masks during transit are strongly advised if carpooling. Carpooling is not a guarantee- due to varying comfort levels or a county regulation that could be in place.
What to wear:
Dress for the weather and dress in layers- synthetic material or wool recommended
(Many people like to wear long pants/sleeves to protect themselves from the sun, dirt, and things that might make you itchy (mosquitos, etc.).
Comfortable hiking shoes; must be closed-toed.
Good socks will save your feet- wool highly recommended.
Hat and Sunglasses- 10,000 ft elevation is very strong sunlight!
Trekking poles if you prefer them.
What to bring in your day pack:
2 liters of water minimum
Snacks AND a lunch
Sunscreen
Your extra layers (long sleeve shirt, fleece)
Rain Jacket- weather changes quickly, make sure to come for cooler/wet weather.
