Description

Location: Fish Creek Falls National Recreation Site; upper parking lot (the only lot plowed in the winter)

Note: There is a $5 parking fee (bring cash or check; These passes are also accepted but not for purchase at the trailhead)

What time and how long is the tour Please arrive at 9:45 am we will set off at 10 AM, we will get snowshoes on (provided by us), and return to the parking lot by 12:00 pm.

Difficultly/distance: easy terrain/ short distance. We will be moving to locations relativity close to the trailhead, this area is very gentle terrain. Dress/prepare for more time standing still than hiking.

COVID-19 Policies: our programs take place 100% outdoors and masks can be worn if you'd like however we do not require them unless you enter a building requiring them or a car with others from outside your group.

Transportation: You are responsible for your own transportation please PLAN AHEAD- often local accommodations have shuttles that do not operate this early or will not drop off at the location, check beforehand. In town, you can use ride apps on your phone or GO alpine taxi. The local free bus system does NOT have a stop in this area.

What to wear:

Bring a day pack to stash layers if you get warm and vice versa have layers stashed in your pack in case you get cold/hot

Waterproof winter boots

Waterproof pants or gators over your pants (waterproof pants will be especially helpful for kneeling in snow)

Dress in layers and avoid cotton!

Wear sunscreen, sunglasses, hat, and gloves

What to bring in your daypack:

  • Must bring your own camera, tripod recommended but not necessary.
  • Something to kneel on might be nice (such as a small tarp, foam matt, garden kneelers).

Water bottle (1 - 2) (1 liter is a good size) and snacks.

Extra layers (fleece or down shirt or jacket, and a waterproof/windproof jacket)

Sunscreen

Hand/toe warmers (optional for people who get really cold hands/feet)
